The fans of theatre will also receive considerable attention during the festival as one of the most impressive William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” directed by Oskaras Koršunovas celebrating the 10th anniversary on stage will be raising existential questions independent of time under the open summer sky on 23 July. This is one of the mostly attended plays in Lithuania with the most intense tours abroad among other plays of OKT / Vilnius City Theatre. Oskaras Koršunovas often says that he makes attempts to direct the modern dramaturgy as classical and vice versa. “Hamlet” is not a historical play reviving the past epochs either.
According to the director, this play should enable one to touch upon and express the spirit of now: “I only direct plays by Shakespeare because I can refer to the presence and my own experiences through his lens. It is through his works that I try to perceive the world around me and to trace the essence of the time.”
The play encompasses the following famous and talented Lithuanian actors: Darius Meškauskas, Dainius Gavenonis, Nelė Savičenko, Vaidotas Martinaitis, Rasa Samuolytė, Julius Žalakevičius, Darius Gumauskas, Tomas Žaibus, Jonas Verseckas and Giedrius Savickas.
